Listening to songs "Hello, Dolly!"?
I'm auditioning for "Hello, Dolly!" soon with my local community theater. I am not a trained singer (but I can carry a tune well and I am sensitive to corrections), but I have experience onstage and I was regularly training in various genres of dance (ballet, jazz, lyrical, high kicks, etc.) for over 10 years. I a girl of 16 years, about 5'2 "dark, and I think mezzo, but as I said I never learned to sing. I think I dress Ermengarde well, and, possibly, Minnie. Does anyone have a suggestion to listen to songs? I thought about my "new philosophy" of "you 're a good man, Charlie Brown ", but I know it's a bit modern compared to" Hello, Dolly! ". I do not know what is best for this particular hearing, but I can do well. I do not want to do any of the very "hot" now displays (eg, Wicked lol) because I am sure nobody wants to hear: D Sorry to be so difficult!
You are very wise not to want to sing anything from a "hot" show and is entitled to think that my new philosophy is too contemporary. I would continue with a song from Jerry Herman – who wrote a number of other musicals, would look at something in Mame and Mack and Mabel. Herman songs are very melodious and not too difficult to learn – Break a leg!
